Jessica Ellis Announces Candidacy for Magistrate District Judge

I am thrilled and excited to announce my candidacy for Magisterial District Judge for District 22-3-02 in Honesdale. I was born and raised in Wayne County, graduated from Honesdale High School in 2005, and began practicing law in Honesdale in 2013. For the past decade, I have devoted myself to the practice of law and public service. I look forward to earning your vote to serve as Magistrate Judge representing Honesdale, Prompton and Waymart Boroughs, Cherry Ridge, Texas, Canaan, and South Canaan Townships.

At home, I am a wife and mother to two young boys and our Labrador. At work, I practice family law, landlord-tenant, and other civil matters alongside my husband. I also currently serve as Assistant District Attorney for Wayne County. I am passionate about my family and building our life here in Wayne County, making sure my children experience the joy of growing up in our beautiful small town. I am dedicated to the law and public service, I have the experience necessary, and feel completely ready for the challenges of serving as Magistrate Judge.

As a lifelong Wayne County resident, I have spent years being deeply involved in the community. I served in my church, the Central United Methodist Church, as Trustee and a proud handbell ringer for 30 years. I volunteered as an Assistant Scout Leader for Boy Scout Troop 1 alongside my husband and look forward to my own boys pursuing Scouting’s character-building program. I served in the Honesdale Area Jaycees, with five years on the board. I coach junior varsity Softball at Honesdale High School, volunteer for Missy Basketball, and coach our high school Mock Trial Team.

I humbly ask your vote because I truly believe our community needs someone who is not only experienced in the law, but who has experience serving the people right here in our district. My record in public service, in my law practice, and in my family demonstrates my commitment to integrity, fairness and hard work. Wayne County deserves a Judge who understands the unique needs of its residents and is prepared to bring experience, empathy, and fairness to the bench. I can be that judge.
